Portuguese material: Patrícia do Nascimento

Hi!

My name is Patrícia do Nascimento and I am a freelance Translator and Interpreter. My native language is Portuguese and I have worked as a Personal Teacher in Portugal. Although my teaching experience is mainly based on the English language, I would be very pleased to guide you through the in's and out's of the Portuguese cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

It is my deepest belief that in a world of constant change, communication is, without a doubt, a valuable asset. Languages can be looked upon as the currency of this great treasure and will certainly enrich one's life both professionally and personally. When I discovered Thelanguagemenu.com, I found out this was a comon feeling and so I am really glad to be part of this project which strives on helping people surpass the language barrier while providing education materials to both students and teachers.

Regards,

Patrícia do Nascimento

French material: Bianca Biro

Hello,

My name is Bianca Biro, I come from Romania and I am a qualified translator and language teacher for both French and Romanian. I strongly believe that in the 'real world' of schools today, web-based activities and games can draw the students into the learning experience in a fun and interesting way.

The creation of course materials is an exciting venture and I am very enthusiastic to take part in this educational project, especially because rare languages are promoted and the tools make any combination of languages possible.

I hope that teachers seeking to use web-based activities in their classroom and students who seek material for independent study will find a common space on The Language Menu website. It is a delightful approach to promoting languages and I am happy to bring to you the French language through this project!

I hope you will have an enriching experience and that greater learning is achieved as a result!

Bianca Biro

Romanian material: Anca Florescu

Hello, and welcome!

I am a translator-interpreter (Romanian, English, French). I lived in Romania, France, and I am in India at the moment.
After graduating from The Faculty of Letters (English Language and Literature-French Language and Literature) from Timisoara, Romania, I taught adults English and Romanian , within multinational companies.
Then I followed the courses of The Institute of High European Studies, Strasbourg, France, where I received the Interdisciplinary Diploma for High European Studies.

Collaborating with “The language Menu” is a great opportunity to combine foreign languages and my teaching knowledge to create attractive, efficient materials for those who want to become familiar with Romanian, with all its exceptions and traps.

I hope you’ll have a very rich experience going through the pages in Romanian.

Have fun, break a leg!

Anca Florescu

Hungarian material: Sylvia Gombola

Hello,

My name is Sylvia Gombola and I’m Hungarian. I have studied tourism and hotel management, PR and economy. Many people say that Hungarian is quite a difficult language to learn, maybe because it’s quite different from other European languages. Maybe that’s why I became interested in languages. All my previous jobs (as a travel agent, check-in agent, customer service assistant) had been strongly related to information-giving and basically to communication. As I love learning more and more about people and different cultures, I have found that language is one of the main keys to each culture. I’ve been learning and exercising English and German for more than 10 years, and I have also started studying Italian, Spanish and Japanese. I have already taught Hungarian to my Japanese pen friends. They’ve really liked it.

I’d be happy to help you in teaching you my unique mother tongue!

Sylvia Gombola

Icelandic material: Sigrun Ólafsdottir

To all you Icelandic enthusiasts!

Do you want to learn the language of the vikings, the language which has remained unchanged for over a thousand years? Do you want to learn the oldest Nordic language, the root of all the other Nordic languages? Or do you want to be able to communicate and understand the language when you travel to this mystical island of geysers and glaciers, mountains and lavafields? Or maybe you are simply interested in learning a new and different language. Whatever your preferences are, we will help you.

The Icelandic language may have many rules, and some say it is hard to learn. But I believe that with the right tools and exercises, one can learn to at least understand a whole lot in a short time. The Language Menu offers a wide range of educational material and teaching with a relaxed and accessible approach. So come and learn some Icelandic, it will be worth your while!

Kærar kveðjur
Sigrún
